GCSE Geography
Summer Programme

Helping students start September operating at a Grade 8/9 level (the top of the 1–9 GCSE scale) before Year 11 even begins.

Designed and delivered by experienced GCSE examiners, this programme builds confidence, exam technique, structured writing, and high-level geographical thinking before students return to school in September.

Students can either join the summer programme independently or continue into our September GCSE programme for full academic year support.

For Parents

Does This Sound Like Your Child?

Your child

  • Understands geography when they actually engage with it
  • Has fallen behind gradually rather than suddenly
  • Struggles with longer exam questions
  • Loses focus in large classes
  • Lacks confidence in their answers
  • Knows more than their current grades show

Many students we work with are not struggling because they lack intelligence. They are struggling because they have never properly been taught exam technique, structured revision, and how to stay engaged consistently.

The Confidence Spiral

The Confidence Spiral Most Parents Miss

When students begin falling slightly behind, geography quickly becomes frustrating.

  • They disengage in lessons.
  • They stop answering questions confidently.
  • Revision becomes inconsistent.
  • Over time, they begin believing they simply aren't good at geography.

Our programmes are designed to reverse that cycle before Year 11.

Honest Positioning

Is This Programme Right For Your Child?

We are intentionally selective about who this programme is built for.

Ideal If

This Programme Is Ideal If…

  • Your child is capable but inconsistent
  • Confidence has dropped over time
  • They struggle with longer questions
  • They need structure and accountability
  • They know content but underperform in exams

Probably Not

This Programme Is Probably Not Right If…

  • Your child already consistently achieves Grade 8/9s independently
  • They are highly motivated and structured already
  • They do not need support with exam technique or revision systems
The Real Gap

Most Students Do Not Need More Notes

Many geography students already know far more content than their grades reflect. The real difference between a Grade 4 and a Grade 8 is usually not knowledge.

The Real Difference Is

  • Exam technique
  • Structuring longer answers
  • Evaluation skills
  • Command word understanding
  • Applying case studies effectively under timed conditions
Engagement By Design

Designed To Keep Students Engaged

We know parents worry about attention span and online learning. Every part of the programme is built around active participation, not passive watching.

Maximum 10 students per class

Interactive live teaching throughout

Regular breaks built into the day

Students contribute constantly rather than passively watching

Structured activities and examiner feedback

Ideal for students who struggle to stay focused in larger classrooms

Students cannot hide in the back.

With only 10 students per class, every student contributes, answers questions, and receives direct examiner feedback throughout the week.

The Method

Why Students Improve So Quickly

Parents often ask us: "Do students actually jump up?" Once students understand what examiners actually reward, how to structure high mark answers, how to revise effectively, and how to apply case studies properly, grades can improve surprisingly quickly.

How examiners award marks
How to structure answers strategically
How to analyse and evaluate effectively
How to write like a top grade student

Examiner Led Teaching

Taught by a current GCSE examiner who marks the very papers students will sit.

Proven Grade 8/9 Structures

Tested frameworks for every question type that consistently access top band marks.

High Accountability Learning

Small cohorts, targeted feedback, and independent revision systems that stick.

The Reset Before Year 11

The Summer Before Year 11 Is The Biggest Opportunity To Change A GCSE Grade

Most students either regress over summer or use it as a turning point. This programme is designed to help students rebuild confidence, strengthen exam technique, and enter Year 11 ahead rather than behind.

Founded By Freya Ruparel

Olympus Geography was founded by Freya Ruparel, a Cambridge geography graduate and experienced geography educator who has helped hundreds of students improve confidence, exam technique, and academic performance.

After working closely with students across GCSE and A Level, Freya recognised that most students were never explicitly taught how to write for top band marks. Olympus Geography was built to bridge that gap through examiner-led teaching, structured systems, and high performance academic mentoring.

Today, Olympus Geography works with a team of experienced examiners and specialist tutors to help ambitious students achieve top GCSE outcomes (Grade 8–9 on the 1–9 scale) and A-Level results (A/A*) while developing genuine confidence and independent learning skills.
